I don’t often notice how quickly time flies until it’s time to find the right place to care for a loved one who’s on to a new chapter.
My grandma, God bless her, was about to turn 80, and we all agreed that a lovely retirement home in Kanata would be the perfect gift for her at this point, as opposed to adding more to her jewelry collection.
Around 70% of our search was actually grandma taking the lead and asking real questions like: “Do you have bingo nights?” and “Can I keep succulents on the balcony?” They chuckled, but these things mattered.
By the third home, I looked away for one second, and she was already talking to one of the residents about her passion for ABBA, like the chatterbox she is. “This one feels right”, she whispered to me.
