1. Port Elmsley Drive-In
Website: http://www.portelmsleydrivein.com
Address: 333 Port Elmsley Rd, Perth, ON K7H 3C7, Canada
Contact details: +1 613-267-7772
Having been around since 1953, Port Elmsley Drive-In started only a few years after the first drive-in theatre in Canada was unveiled. Consequently, it has become the go-to of many Ottawans when they seek a drive-in theatre experience.
After all, it’s just an hour-long drive, making it one of the closest cinemas of its kind from Ottawa. Based on our experience, it’s recommended to arrive early to get the best seats – or in this case, parking spots.
The next time they open is during spring, although the exact dates are yet to be announced. Keep your eyes peeled for future announcements on their website.
Oh, and a quick heads up – there are plenty of nasty bloodsuckers (mosquitos), especially during the summer, so it’s a good idea to stock up on those bug sprays!
2. Skylight Drive-in Theatre
Website: http://www.skylightdrivein.com
Address: 199 Forest Lea Rd, Pembroke, ON K8A 6W6, Canada
Contact details: +1 613-732-2136
Skylight Drive-in Theatre is located approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes away from Ottawa.
They have double features available, which many customers seem to also love. Our favorite part about this drive-in theater is that you’re guaranteed to have an unhindered view of the screen.
Each row is elevated, so you don’t have to worry about big cars blocking your view.
They serve a lot of classic movie snacks including popcorn and nachos. There’s also a park that has a clean bathroom, so don’t worry about sipping too much pop.
Overall, Skylight has a few exciting touches to make one’s movie-watching experience as seamless as possible.
3. Mustang PEC Drive-In Theatre
Website: https://www.themustangpec.ca
Address: 1521 Prince Edward County Rd 1, Bloomfield, ON K0K 1G0, Canada
Contact details: +1 613-393-2006
Located in Bloomfield, 2 hours and 40 minutes away from Ottawa, Mustang PEC Drive-In Theatre is another exciting option for those looking for a nostalgic viewing experience.
They boast two huge screens, ensuring a remarkable viewing experience.
Unlike other spots, however, outside food and drinks aren’t allowed. That said, they have a trust snack bar where one can purchase popcorn, candy, soft drinks, and an array of hot meals.
We suggest buying tickets before going, especially if you’re coming from Ottawa. While you can always try your luck at the gates, traveling all the way there with no tickets might slightly be a gamble.
4. Drive-In Saint Eustache
Website: https://mathers.ca/cine-parc
Address: 455 Av. Mathers, Saint-Eustache, QC J7P 4C1, Canada
Contact details: +1 450-472-1666
Drive-In Saint Eustache is a spacious outdoor theater almost 2 hours away from Ottawa.
What sets it apart from other drive-ins is its focus on French films, providing a cinematic adventure that immerses the audiences in the enchanting world of French cinema.
Another exciting factor is that the picturesque allure of the surroundings enhances the experience, complementing the cinematic adventure. Que la fête commence!
5. Lindsay Twin Drive-In Theatre
Website: https://www.lindsaydrivein.ca
Address: 229 Pigeon Lake Rd, Lindsay, ON K9V 4R6, Canada
If you’re up for a bit of a drive, Lindsay Twin Drive-In Theatre is a 3-hour and 40-minute drive from Ottawa. You might be thinking: is it worth it? Absolutely! And here’s why.
There are usually fewer people here, offering a more intimate viewing experience. Additionally, audiophiles will love the crisp sound of the audio as soon as it connects to their radio.
Furthermore, the food at their snack bar is reasonably priced, which is surprising because many cinemas tend to hike up the prices.
6. Muskoka Drive-In
Website: https://www.muskokadrivein.com
Address: 1001 Theatre Rd, Gravenhurst, ON P1P 1R3, Canada
Contact details: +1 705-687-4880
Another slightly long journey from Ottawa is the Muskoka Drive-In, requiring a total of 4-hour drive.
Their snack bar guarantees the usual movie snacks, but wait – there’s a twist! They also have a grill where they concoct their special burgers, BBQ, and other fresh delights, all served hot, just like their popcorn.
As you can tell, one of our favorite things about this drive-in is the food, but we also love how they showcase new flicks and provide a playground and an arcade at the location.
