But the idea stuck. Fast forward to me awkwardly tying my first pair of ballet slippers, convinced I’d trip over my own feet.

Whether you’re looking to channel your inner ballerina or just want a fun way to stay active, these spots are the ones to visit.
How much do ballet classes cost in Ottawa?
Ballet classes in Ottawa cost around $20 to $30 per drop-in session, while monthly packages typically range from $80 to $150, depending on the frequency and level of classes.

Daphné Paquette’s classes are well-known in Ottawa for creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for dancers of all skill levels.
Their classes stand out for their specialization in inclusive adult ballet. They believe that anyone can learn ballet, no matter how young or old.

Just note that her schedule gets booked up pretty fast, so it’s best to plan ahead.
The beginner class was accessible and all the students were friendly and warm
“I’ve attended one of Daphne classes and it was perfect. I haven’t been able to return due to other commitments but I’m eager to visit again in 2025. I hadn’t done ballet since I was younger and she was so welcoming and supportive. The beginner class was accessible and all the students were friendly and warm. I can’t wait to come back!”

Daphné teaches with so much consideration and enthusiasm
“I have been taking these classes for about a year now and it has been an absolute delight. Daphné teaches with so much consideration and enthusiasm. I feel challenged to reach new goals, while also supported and encouraged to move my body in ways that work for me. If you have never taken a ballet class, or if you are returning to it, I strongly recommend signing up for one of the weekly drop in classes. You won’t regret it. :)”

2. Les Petits Ballets

Les Petits Ballets is a beloved studio in Ottawa that offers a structured and supportive environment for dancers of all ages.
They focus on a wide range of ballet classes, from children’s programs to adult sessions, making it a great choice for individuals or families looking to dive into the world of dance.
The instructors here specialize in traditional ballet techniques, which is great for anyone who’s looking for something more structured and focused on the classical foundations of ballet.
Plus, the studio also gives students the chance to participate in performances, which is a fun way to showcase what they’ve learned.
However, we did notice that their classes are on the pricier end.
My daughter loves going to the classes
“Really great ballet school that offers a pre-professional program (audition required), as well as a creative dance and pre-ballet rec program for younger children. They follow the Vaganova curriculum and provide a good focus on proper technique, while giving students in the pre-professional program (Elementary 1 and above) the opportunity to perform in two different shows per year (the Nutcracker in December and another show in the spring). In one of the classes parents could observe the instructor brought out a small version of a skeleton to show how the body works to get the technique they were working on. My daughter loves going to the classes. There are also classes for adults.”

They’re known for its top-notch instructors who are well-known in the dance community and have years of experience under their belt.

Meanwhile, the comprehensive curriculum makes it an excellent choice for anyone who values a polished approach to learning. Each class is tailored to help dancers improve their strength, flexibility, and artistry, while also building confidence.
Just a heads-up though – they only accept students based on the school’s seasonal terms, so their schedules aren’t very flexible.
Teachers were enthusiastic and the in-class musicians were superb
“A really wonderful dance school, I took ballet lessons here as a young child and then again as a teenager and I loved it. The teachers were enthusiastic and the in-class musicians were superb. A great place to learn to dance!!”

If your child wants to dance and is willing to train seriously, this is a fantastic place
“A wonderful place that turns out dancers that are beautiful on the inside an out. I can’t say enough good about this place. My son was in the pre-professional ballet program but he is now in the professional program at the National Ballet School and boarding in Toronto. I miss my son and taking him to the TSOD for his daily classes but I also miss the camaraderie and interacting with the other parents and students too. If your child wants to dance and is willing to train seriously, this is a fantastic place. Dance competition types will not be interested, they perform on stage regularly but do not participate in nor encourage such pursuits. Parents should be pleased — no travel to competitions and no expensive competition costumes to buy.”
