If you’re looking for a badminton club that offers quality instruction and plenty of amenities,
then look no further than RA Badminton Club.
It offers badminton lessons for all levels of players and has its own adult sports league. Professional coaches are hired by the club to teach different types of students.
Students interested in taking lessons can do so at the club’s on-site facility, which includes multiple courts as well as several seating areas.
Players looking for a fun new sport can join the RA’s adult sports league, which runs year-round and offers both singles and doubles play in various age groups.
The club also offers a variety of equipment to help players improve their game, including
rackets, nets, and shuttlecocks.
RA also has amenities for other sports like pools and a multi-purpose gymnasium for basketball, futsal, and more.
If you have younger kids, you can enroll them in RA’s sports programs for children. In these programs, kids aged 12 and up can learn how to properly play badminton.
The only shortcoming we’ve come to notice from this club is the fact that it’s usually overbooked and can be crowded at times.
Its pricing is also quite steep in some areas, so prepare your wallets.
Overall, with the amenities and different classes it offers, it’s easily one of the best badminton clubs for lessons in the city.
Pros
- Offers free parking
- Has programs for children
- Also has its own adult sports league

Westboro Badminton Club is a great place to learn how to play badminton. It is located on
Broadview Ave, Ottawa, and is open 24 hours every day.
The club has a long-term athlete development program and also offers para-badminton games for persons with disabilities. It has an evaluation event to see the skill levels of the potential students.
The coaches are experienced in teaching different kinds of students. The para-badminton coaches are also taught to be more patient and kind when teaching.
Westboro Badminton Club has been certified by the National Coaching Certification Program, which makes it legitimate.
The club is also a member of Badminton Ontario, an organization in charge of the governance of badminton within the province.
Unfortunately, many clients have complained about the quality of the shuttlecocks used in the club. Nylon shuttlecocks are easily broken and are not made for longer games.
It’s also a shame that the classes for children are limited to kids aged 14 and above, which is bad news for parents with younger children who want to join the club.
That being said, the coaches are helpful and friendly and the classes are fun and educational at the same time.
Overall, this is a great club to join if you are looking for a good place. But its amenities still need work.
Still, with what the club offers, it definitely is one of the best places to get badminton lessons in Ottawa.
Pros
- NCCP Certified
- Holds evaluation events to check skill level
- Long-term Athlete Development program
- Offers Para-Badminton games and training

Another good pick for badminton lessons is Soong Badminton Academy. It is run by Dominic Soong, a Level 4 national coach and former #2 world-ranked player in men’s doubles.
The academy’s team of experienced NCCP (National Coaching Certification Program) certified coaches and qualified sparring assistants offer individual or group instruction in both singles and doubles categories.
The NCCP requires these coaches to have multiple years of experience playing and teaching the sport. They undergo a series of aptitude and skill tests before they are accepted as coaches.
We also like that the students in the club can choose between private and semi-private lessons.
Soong Badminton Academy offers several programs for different age groups. The academy also has an on-site gym with equipment available for rent and lockers for members to use during classes.
The academy also offers summer camps for children. These camps are dedicated to
teaching them badminton as well as the importance of camaraderie.
Para-badminton classes are also available for persons with disabilities. Soong Academy’s coaches are available to train students in other areas.
Soong Badminton Academy is overall a great place to learn badminton. The only downside is that there are no tournaments for beginner batches of students.
The price can also be an issue for some, but with the experience of the coaches, it’s quite understandable why it’s a bit steep.
Pros
- Offers summer camps for children
- Recognized by the Ottawa Sports Council
- Winner of Lifetime Coaching Award
- Offers para-badminton games and training
