We recently visited Bistro Ristoro and were blown away by their service, reputation, cost, and convenience.
The staff at Bistro Ristoro are some of the friendliest and most welcoming people we’ve encountered at a restaurant.
From the moment we walked in the door, we felt like we were part of the family. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and made some fantastic recommendations that we absolutely loved.
Now let’s talk about reputation. Bistro Ristoro has been around for quite some time and has built up a solid reputation in the community for serving up some seriously delicious Italian cuisine.
And let us tell you, they definitely lived up to the hype. Every dish we tried was packed with flavor and made with fresh, high-quality ingredients.
But what about the cost? We were pleasantly surprised by how affordable Bistro Ristoro was.
Considering the high quality of the food and the level of service we received, we expected to pay a lot more than we did. In fact, we felt like we got a real bargain for the experience we had.

It’s the perfect place to stop in for a quick bite after work, or to enjoy a leisurely meal with friends or family on the weekend. Plus, the cozy ambiance of the restaurant makes it the ideal spot for a romantic night out.
However, they don’t serve old, good pizza 24/7. We recommend paying them a visit before the clock strikes midnight.

Authentic
“This is one of the best restaurants in Ottawa! The food is authentic Balkan: the flavors are amazing! The service is incredible, the owners are always there to chat give good suggestions or simply just to welcome you warmly! They have just came up with the new dish, it is Cornbread Chicken Casserole. It is hard to describe the quality of it! I highlighted recommend this place!” — Sladana G.
Amazing
Bistro Ristoro is easily one of our favourite restaurants in Ottawa. It’s a wonderful local business run by the best people — we always have great conversations with Vlado and Lydia when we are there. The restaurant serves delicious, authentic Macedonian food. The last time we went there we had the piquant stuffed champignons, the pillows, the spicy sausage roll ups, and much more — everything was AMAZING! — Karishma Rajaratnam

Isabella Pizza is a great affordable option for pizza in Ottawa. It has a wide variety of toppings and its crust is always fresh tasting.
Established in 1975, the pizza place is family owned and operated. It is committed to using only high-quality ingredients to ensure an outstanding dining experience even for those on a strict budget.
The pizza served here is always fresh from the oven. And, thanks to the use of wood-fired ovens, the crust has the perfect crispiness that goes so well with melted cheese on top.
What makes Isabella a great option is its homey feeling and aesthetics. The restaurant is welcoming and has a cozy atmosphere that is great after a long day at work or class.
It’s decorated with interesting paintings and vintage furniture that adds to its charm. The staff is friendly, the food is delicious, and the prices are reasonable!
If you’re craving pizza at home, Isabella is also available for delivery and takeout. Customers can order online or call the pizzeria’s landline to order.
The only drawback is that it seems like Isabella is a bit afraid of changing its menu. The pizza selection is a bit predictable and needs more variety.
Overall, if you’re under a strict budget and need a pizza fix, this is definitely a great place to check out.
Pros
- Accepts online orders
- Great prices
- Also delivers and accepts takeout orders

The best
“Best pizza in Ottawa! Hands down! I can personally say everything here is authentic and properly made. The dough is made from scratch, the toppings are fresh vegetables and meats that are cut by the employees (not pre cut and boxed like the majority of places). This is no cookie cutter business!” – Richard Lewis

Louis Pizza is another Ottawa favorite. The pizzeria on Macarthur Ave. is well-known for being open late and having a variety of options for our favorite Italian pies.
Aside from being open late, Louis is also open early in the morning. If somehow you’re craving breakfast pizza, you can find that at Louis as well.
Customers can choose between thick and thin crusts for their pizzas, as well
as a range of toppings from classic to more unique options such as smoked ham and pineapple or goat cheese and honey.
Other than ham, there are other smoked options such as prosciutto, bacon, and turkey breast. There are also specialty salads such as fig salad and roasted red peppers and caramelized onions.
Louis also has healthy options like gluten-free pizza, which is very popular among customers who follow a specific diet or have dietary restrictions.
We love the cozy feel of this family-run establishment! However, some may find it too small, especially during busy hours, so we recommend making a reservation if you are planning to go there with a large group.
Overall, Louis is a great option for anyone craving some late-night or early-morning pizza. As long as you’re okay with the smaller interior, this place is a good spot to satisfy your taste buds.
Pros
- Great menu selection
- Classic Italian aesthetic
- Smoked options
- Thin and thick options for crust
- Also delivers
- Healthy options
Cons
- Small restaurant, can be crowded at times
Customer Reviews
One of the best
“One of the best pizza we ever had! They kept the look and feel of this authentic 60’s pizzeria filled with great stories about the relationship between the owners (the uncle who was the original owner and now his niece) and the community. And if your wondering about the food, the place was packed on a Tuesday night, and take-out orders kept going out. Definitely a site to see if you are visiting from out of town!” – David St Cyr
Outstanding
“Outstanding pizza and people. The dough is second to none, despite what two reviews described as salty and undercooked? Must be the competition writing this garbage. Sauce, cheese is quality, dessert pies, breakfasts just WOW. Try the pizza kits as well to take home and cook in your own oven. They are AMAZING and budget friendly. We bought 3 of them, and they were a big hit over the weekend. My favorite pizza in Ottawa or anywhere for that matter.” – A.F.

Colonnade Pizza was established in 1967. It’s one of Ottawa’s oldest pizza places and is a favorite with locals.
It’s very popular for its thin-crust pizza and its toppings are also very diverse. It offers everything from classic cheese, pepperoni, and ham to unique options like the Mediterranean Pizza and Sante’ Fe Pizza.
If you look at Colonnade’s menu, you may be taken aback by its unique options.
For example, instead of choosing toppings like pepperoni or pineapple and ham, you can choose your own combination!
It also offers breakfast pizzas and breakfast sandwiches. The restaurant has a variety of vegetarian and vegan options as well.
Gluten-free pizza is available for those with diet restrictions.
The pizza dough is made by the chefs at the restaurant daily, so you’re guaranteed to get fresh pizza every time.
We love that Colonnade is also available at other locations. There are restaurants open in Downtown, Merivale, West End, Barrhaven, and more.
We’re just a bit iffy when it comes to the pricing of some of Colonnade’s products. Some are just too expensive for their portions and value.
Overall, we love Colonnade and would still recommend it for its quality and variety of toppings.

Roberto Pizza is another great Ottawa pizza joint. The crust is always fresh and the toppings are some of the best around.
It’s also a great option if you’re tired of the basic ham and cheese combinations and pepperoni toppings.
The pies that Roberto offers are more expensive but well worth the extra money for the great taste and unique toppings.
The ingredients it uses are authentic Italian cheese, fresh herbs, and produce from the market in Vancouver or Toronto. The meat is also locally sourced from local farms in Elmira Ontario.
Some of Roberto’s specialties are Giacomo Pizza, Luca Pizza, Pirlo Pizza, and more. All of these are cooked with a wood fire oven, which gives the pizzas a delicious flavor that can’t be matched by most pizzerias in Ottawa.
If you want to try Roberto’s unique pizzas at home, the restaurant offers takeout and delivery options.
As we said, Roberto is the fancy and expensive option on this list. If you’re under a strict budget, Roberto might not be the best option for you.
However, if you’re willing to splurge for delicious food and a great atmosphere, this
is a great option to check out. Roberto is located in Preston St. and is open late, so you can always get your late-night pizza fix.

My favourite
“My favourite pizza in Ottawa. The Gianni is my favourite but I recommend getting it with extra salami. Neapolitan pizza is all about the dough and I think Anthony’s really knows their stuff. The dough is chewy and salty. Haven’t had a better version in Ottawa or Toronto.” – Anna Kayden
Fancy date pizza
“Very nice authentic pizza place of ottawa. I would like to start by saying pizza like this will always be better when going to the location. Very friendly atmosphere and great vibe for this restaurant.
