Groundbreaking Sounds: Ottawa Grassroots Festival Unveils Headliners for April 2024
The Ottawa Grassroots Festival is back, and it’s bringing an electrifying lineup of music, art, and community spirit to Ottawa from April 25 to April 28, 2024.
It was founded in 2012 by Bob Nesbitt and fueled by a team of dedicated volunteers, and has become a staple in Ottawa’s cultural calendar!
This year’s festival will be hosted at two venues: Irene’s Pub and the First Unitarian Congregation of Ottawa, marking the first time the festival is held in multiple locations.
The headliners for this edition include three renowned Canadian musicians: Lynn Miles, Charlie A’Court, and Connie Kaldor.
On April 25, Irene’s Pub, located at 885 Bank St., will host Ottawa’s very own Lynn Miles and the Tumbleweeds. With a career spanning 16 albums, a Juno award, and multiple Canadian Folk Music Awards, Lynn Miles is a true icon of Canadian music.
On April 26, the First Unitarian Congregation of Ottawa welcomes Charlie A’Court for his Ottawa Grassroots Festival debut. Charlie A’Court’s blend of roots and soul has earned him numerous wins at the East Coast Music Awards.
He’ll also be joined on stage by local artist Rory Taillon, ensuring a night of unforgettable performances.
During the Ottawa Grassroots Festival’s last day on April 27, the legendary Connie Kaldor grace the stage at the First Unitarian Congregation of Ottawa.
With a career spanning 45 years and 18 recordings, Connie Kaldor is another Canadian folk music icon. Her unique blend of storytelling and musical prowess promises an evening of enchantment and nostalgia.
The opening show is Jessica Pearson and the East Wind, adding their own brand of folk-inspired melodies to the mix. Both Friday and Saturday performances begin at 7:30 p.m., with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. at the First Unitarian Congregation of Ottawa.
