Karen Gomyo Is Coming to Ottawa in March 2025 for a Symphony of Fire and Ice

Sibelius: Music of Fire and Ice is coming to the National Arts Center of Ottawa on March 5th and 6th, 2025. Featuring the music of Jean Sibelius, Sergei Prokofiev, and Lily Lacy, this selection of symphonies evokes an otherworldly, almost magical feeling.

The performance captures the fiery passion of the human spirit and the stark, icy beauty of the Nordic and Russian landscapes. It will transport you to your favorite fantasy worlds.

Classical violinist Karen Gomyo will perform Sibelius’ symphonies along with the NAC Orchestra and Conductor Christian Reif. She will play the show’s centerpiece, Sibelius’ Symphony No. 7, which is known for its profound emotional depth.

Complimenting Sibelius’ music is Prokofiev’s “Classical” symphony, a playful and witty piece that blends classical tradition with modern twists. Finally, you will hear Lacy’s Aurora, an emotionally rich symphony that conveys hope and the promise of renewal.

Sibelius: Music of Fire and Ice starts at 8 PM on March 5 and 6. It’s going to be a two-hour show with intermission.
