Me and my friends are suckers for a good time and good eats. We usually hang out at each other’s houses and just do whatever comes to mind.
As we were looking for some food, my good friend Simon suggested a dumpling place near his house.
This started our oriental adventure and quest to find the best dumpling spots in Ottawa. From steamed and fried dumplings to soup dumplings, this city really has it all.
After trying a handful of them, I can confidently say that our journey was complete.
I won’t keep you waiting any longer, let me present the top dumpling spots to satisfy your cravings in Ottawa!

From the name itself, Dumpling? Dumpling! has some of the best handmade dumplings in Ottawa.
All their dumplings are simply to die for—they can be boiled or steamed. For an extra $1, you can also have them pan-fried or deep-fried.
The dumplings come with containers of black vinegar and sriracha, and they’re also sprinkled with sesame seeds in their bamboo steamers. Talk about variety!
I would personally recommend getting the pork or shrimp dumplings. They’re very easy to eat—I finished almost all of them in one serving!
The real catch here is that they have an open kitchen. You get to see your dumplings being made right in front of you!
Pro tip:
Don’t forget your beverage! Pair your choice of dumplings with their signature bubble teas or iced teas!

For a different dumpling experience, Sammi & Soupe Dumpling has what you’re looking for. This restaurant is known for their Xiao Long Baos, which are some of the most mouth-watering soup dumplings in the city.
They come in a variety of flavors such as Chicken & Mushroom, Juicy Pork, Shrimp & Coriander (my personal favorite), and many more.
The flavorful broth in the dumplings is best paired with their sides such as Cold Noodles with Peanut Butter, Coleslaw, or some Spicy Tofu if you’re feeling adventurous.
Pro tip:
I heard from my friend that the Cold Jelly with Brown Sugar Syrup is the perfect sweet treat after eating their Xiao Long Bao!

The Momo Spot offers a Nepalese twist on the classic dumplings that we know you’ll love.
Originally a pop-up store, they upgraded to a brick-and-mortar restaurant along Holland Avenue. This is the perfect spot where you can enjoy some refreshing drinks and delicious dumplings, and just chill.
Don’t skip on their starters! Their Chicken Chilli is jam-packed with flavor and has a sweet kick to it.
If you’re looking for something more unique, their $16.99 Jhol Momos are dumplings in a Nepalese soup that will surely deliver that dunked goodness you’re looking for.
For the hotheads out there, their $16.99 Chilli Momos comes with stir-fried tomatoes, onions, chilies, and bell peppers to knock your socks off!
They also have a patio area wherein you can enjoy their Nepalese dumplings that come in pork, chicken, and vegan options.
Pro tip:
I’d recommend enjoying their Momos with a cold can of Clean Cut!

Don’t just take my word for it—try their pork dumplings or their shrimp and chive dumplings. You’ll surely be wow-ed by the unique flavors and exquisite plating.
This spot is perfect for just about anything—from date nights, birthday dinners, or even late-night eats after a bar.
They also carry options for vegans/vegetarians so that shouldn’t be a problem.
Pro tip:
Their house-made chili sauce is amazing! For only $2, that’s a steal I’d take any day.
5. Mekong Restaurant

Going back to traditional roots, Mekong offers some of the best Chinese and Vietnamese cuisine in the city.
Some personal favorites of mine include their Hunan Pork Dumplings, pork wonton, and crispy spicy beef! These come with black vinegar and soy dipping sauce but there are other options like hoisin and sweet n’ sour if you’re feeling adventurous.
Pro tip:
Try the Peking Duck here. It’s hands-down one of the best that I’ve ever tasted.

Located in the heart of Ottawa’s Chinatown, Dumpling Bowl is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered by dumpling enthusiasts.
Founded in 2015, it’s also Ottawa’s first restaurant dedicated to handmade Chinese dumplings. They’ve really perfected their craft.
Their Pork and Chive Dumplings are simply spectacular. I went with the fried option, which cost me $17.99 but you can also get it boiled for $16.99.
They also have a wide range of flavors such as seafood, beef and coriander, and vegetarian options.
I cannot stress enough how delicious their house dipping sauce is. The mix of rice vinegar, soy sauce, and chili oil simply enhances the whole experience.
They also have other sauces such as Thai peanut, teriyaki, sweet chili, and spicy mayo.
I paired their dumplings with their wonton soup and it didn’t disappoint! Their beef noodle wonton is so delicious that I even ordered a second serving for myself!
Pro tip:
Don’t forget the bev! Their hot tea is a specialty that you should try!
