Ottawa to Shine Bright with Winter Lights Across Canada on Dec. 5
Ottawa’s sparkling holiday tradition, Winter Lights Across Canada, returns on Dec. 5. This cherished annual event transforms the city into a breathtaking winter wonderland, making it the perfect addition to your holiday plans.
The star of the show? Parliament Hill. Its iconic Centre Block will come alive each evening with dazzling multimedia projections celebrating Canadian heritage, paired with a synchronized light display.
A scenic pathway of lights will wind through the city, connecting some of Ottawa’s most iconic landmarks. Just like in previous years, monuments and trees will be lit up in different colors from Confederation Park all the way to Jacques-Cartier Park.

With 300,000 lights illuminating the capital, it’s the perfect time to explore, soak up the festive atmosphere, and snap the most enchanting Christmas photographs.
Some of my favorite spots for photos are along the Rideau Canal and Mackenzie Triangle. I like walking under a sea of lights in Sussex and posing for pictures in Major’s Hill Park with the beautifully lit Parliament Hill in the background.
It can get pretty chilly at night so don’t forget to bundle up and grab a cup of hot chocolate before going out.
