These top-notch Nordic spas in and around Ottawa will redefine your understanding of ultimate relaxation!

Ever had one of those days when you felt like you could use a serious pick-me-up? Well, I’ve had more than my fair share this month!

Seriously, it felt like the universe was out to get me!

I knew I needed some serious R&R, but let’s be real – regular massages just weren’t cutting it. If only I could have visited the same spa that appeared in “Living With Yourself,” truly embodying “feeling like a brand new person.”

So, I took a mini-sabbatical to check out the Nordic spas around Ottawa.

Now, I’m here to spill the beans for all my fellow busy bees who need a break to recharge and reignite their A-game. Because let’s face it, you don’t need a whole clone of yourself; you just need to know the top places for thermal spas!

1. Kōena Spa

Website: https://koenaspa.com/en/about-the-spa/
Address: 1172 Chem. d’Aylmer, Gatineau, QC
Contact details: +1 819-525-7545
Operating hours: Monday to Sunday – 9 AM to 10 PM

Located a mere -13 minute drive from Downtown Ottawa, Kōena Spa offers a quick scenic retreat with its dry and steam saunas, tempered baths, cold baths – you name it.

This is one of my first experiences where I felt the healing powers of water because every dip seemed to rejuvenate my spirit.

Its serene ambiance makes it an alluring destination to unwind from the city’s hustle and bustle without venturing too far, making it one of the top choices for Ottawans seeking relaxation.

2. Nordik Spa-Nature

Website: https://chelsea.lenordik.com/en/
Address: 16 Chem. Nordik, Chelsea, QC
Contact details: +1 819-827-1111
Operating hours:

  • Monday to Thursday – 9 AM to 11 PM
  • Friday and Saturday – 8:30 AM to 12 AM
  • Sunday – 8:30 AM to 11 PM

Another gem located just across the border in Quebec, it only takes Ottawans 18 minutes to drive to Nordik Spa-Nature, a serene oasis renowned for its thermotherapy.

I must say, I didn’t go into this experience with as open a mind as I should have. I mean, how can a hot sauna, then exposure to cold, followed by rest, be life-changing?

Surprisingly, I slept like a baby that night, which doesn’t happen that often. Needless to say, I’m interested in going back for seconds to see if I get to reap its other benefits!

Next time, I’m also planning on trying out their yoga. My computer chair is convinced my back has turned into a pretzel!

3. Uppliva Nordic Spa

Address: 1140 Wellington St. W Suite C100
Contact details: +1 613-421-3880
Operating hours:

  • Monday and Tuesday – closed
  • Wednesday to Friday – 10 AM to 8 PM
  • Saturday and Sunday – 10 AM to 6 PM

Ottawans who are seeking to indulge in a Nordic spa experience don’t have to go outside the city if they don’t want to. Unbeknownst to most, there’s one along Wellington Street!

Their Nordic Circuit is definitely a must-try. It comes with a cedar sauna, an eucalyptus steam room, a cold plunge pool, and refreshing rain showers.

And to top it off, there’s also a special place to relax and indulge in spa treatments.

My favorite part about their Nordic circuit service is the unlimited herbal tea and citrus water, which reminded me how much I needed to hydrate!
