If you know me, you know I’ve always been afraid of heights. Riding the Ferris wheel? Yeah, I’ll pass.
Aiming to reach the summit during a hike? Consider me out if that’s the goal!
You’d even catch me gripping my seat during flights because I just hate the thought of my feet not being on the ground.
However, there was one experience that made me really want to conquer this fear once and for all – Ottawa Aviation Adventures, where you can fly above the city and see picturesque views from a bird’s-eye view!
To extend the joy of this experience to you, here’s everything you need to know, along with some fun tips to make your journey even more enjoyable.
And if you’re here for tips on how to conquer your fear of heights, I hate to break it to you, but I’m still afraid. However, I’d say this: some adventures are still worth doing, even if you’re scared.
Tours Offered by Ottawa Aviation Adventures
Ottawa Aviation Adventures provides curious adventurers with a chance to hop on two kinds of experiences – the biplane and family flights.
I’ll take you on a journey through what to expect for all available tours to help you pick which one’s the best for your taste and reference.
Do note that only 2 passengers are allowed for the biplane experiences and 3 for family flights.
River Tour
Want to enjoy one of Ottawa’s popular attractions from above ground? If so, you’ll love the River Tour!
You’ll be treated to picturesque views of the Ottawa River, and let me tell you, the view is absolutely stunning. It’s just about 10 to 15 minutes, but it feels like a whole world of exploration packed into that time!
For only CA$98 per person, I’d say it’s a great bang for your buck.
This tour is only available under biplane experiences.
Parliament
Considered their most popular ride, the Parliament will take you above Parliament Hill and the vibrant downtown Ottawa because who says you have to go to these must-visit locations on foot?
It’s a short tour, about 10 to 15 minutes, but trust me, every second is filled with excitement and wonder.
Parliament tour is available for biplane and family tours.
Gatineau Hills
If you’re seeking a longer tour, you might enjoy the trip over Gatineau Hills where you’ll get to indulge in renowned sights like Gatineau Park and the majestic Chelsea River dams.
And here’s the cherry on top: on your way back, you’ll also enjoy the Parliament Hill Tour, rounding off your experience with a panoramic view of Ottawa’s iconic landmarks for CA$170 per person.
They recommend hopping on this one during the autumn season to see the magical foliage.

Eco Tour
Here’s the longest one out of the bunch – the Eco Tour, where you’ll get to fly for 30 to 35 minutes.

Oh, and there’s another fun addition – a view of Eastern Ontario and the verdant lands of western Quebec!

Considered one of the very few dining options for Algerian cuisine in Ottawa, Idriss Mediterranean offers a flavorful journey just a 4-minute car ride from the Ottawa Aviation Adventures.
It serves as a delicious eatery for hungry adventurers who want to savor authentic Algerian flavors without straying far from their aviation escapades.

You can never go wrong with ordering burgers from The Works, especially if you need to refuel before or after your aviation experience.
The blues burger is a guaranteed must-try, garnering rave reviews from former patrons. After trying it myself, I was entranced by the mouth-watering juiciness of the meat, along with the delicious inclusions of bacon and ranch.
However, if you’re looking for something cheesier, juicy Lucy might just be up your alley, featuring a cheese-stuffed patty, lettuce, tomato, pickles, red onions, and mayo.
As a cheese lover, I was completely blown away by its exquisite flavor profile and creamy texture.
Oh, and try the milkshakes as well while you’re at it. They’re the ultimate crowd-pleaser here!
