Morris Island Conservation Area consists of a 47-hectare space filled with a plethora of activities to indulge in. 

The best part? Your fur babies don’t have to stay at home for this adventure because they’re free to tag along! 

That said, make sure they’re on the leash, as per the rules in the area. This not only ensures their safety but also prevents them from disturbing any wildlife you might encounter.

Anyway, your pups will surely enjoy the change of scenery especially if you’re living in an urban setting.

There are a lot of picturesque spaces in the conservation area, practically begging to be captured in photographs. 

Spoiler alert: everywhere you turn is picture-perfect! No matter what time of year it is, we’ve always found this location beautiful, but autumn is our favorite time to visit, for sure. 

Just imagine the foliage at that time of year, painting the lush landscapes with gold, red, and brown hues. Really, there’s nothing quite like it! 

Embrace the wildlife wonders

Is it really an exciting outdoor adventure without the chance of spotting wildlife up close? 

There are a lot of wildlife wonders to discover in the conservation area, beckoning outdoor explorers looking for the rich nature offerings you won’t usually find in the heart of the city. 

You can expect to see a variety of fish, frogs, turtles, and birds, so be sure to keep those cameras on hand for any exciting photo opportunities!

The best part about this is that you don’t have to be a hiking expert in order to enjoy this activity. 

The well-marked pathways are easy even for beginners! In fact, many families bring their kids here, so you can rest assured that the paths are suitable for all ages and skill levels.

What to Bring to Morris Island Conservation Area

Packed Lunch 

Due to the lack of nearby dining options, it’s recommended to bring your own packed lunch. 

This ensures that you have enough energy throughout your outdoor adventure, preventing the possibility of cutting it short due to hunger pangs.

If you happen to forget one, you can stop by Mark’s NoFrills Arnprior, a grocery store 22 minutes away, before you start your adventure. 

Mosquito Repellant 

While we didn’t have a lot of mosquito problems during our visit, we still suggest bringing a mosquito repellant, especially during warmer months for an extra layer of protection against those nasty bugs. 

Water 

Make sure to stay hydrated throughout your visit by bringing ample drinking water to the conservation area. 

Binoculars

Binoculars are useful especially if you’re visiting solely for the purpose of spotting wildlife. This allows a closer look without the risk of startling animals and scaring them off. 

Trash Bag

Help maintain the conservation area clean by bringing your own trash bags and disposing of them in designated areas after. 

Sun Protection 

Wearing sun protection is a must, especially if you’re outside for long periods of time. Consider bringing sunglasses for an extra layer of protection.

Consider the parking fee

There’s ample space in the conservation area so visitors can bring their cars. However, there’s a $6 parking fee that you need to pay. 

Do note that you need to bring the exact amount or pay via credit card. 

Wear appropriate clothing 

Don’t forget to wear comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing during your visit. This includes sturdy footwear ideal for walking or hiking. 

It doesn’t hurt to bring an extra set of clothes, especially during warmer months, as you’d be sweating a lot.
