Marlborough Forest is most known for its hiking trails, with a picturesque landscape as its background.
Those who want to be surrounded by the peaceful ambiance of nature away from the city’s buzz should definitely include Marlborough Forest on their list of itineraries.
While this destination is generally popular, I never find myself bumping elbows with strangers every time I visit, making it a perfect spot for a peaceful retreat.
Take your pups for an adventure

Considered one of the best pet-friendly hiking trails in Ottawa, a lot of locals take their pups to the Marlborough Forest.
Do note, however, that it’s recommended to keep your furry friends on the leash at all times to avoid disturbing the biodiversity and to ensure the safety of both your pets and the wildlife.
Sleep underneath the stars

A lot of folks also go to Marlborough Forest to sleep underneath the stars.
While I prefer other enchanting camping spots in Ottawa (as well as the occasional glamping near the city), this one’s not bad either, especially if you’re looking for a secluded place to unwind and connect with nature.
Take a moment to admire the rich diversity of flora, fauna, and fungi

Marlborough Forest is stunning all year round, but during the spring, summer, and fall seasons, you get to see a spectacular array of wildflowers, lush green foliage, and vibrant autumn colors.
And don’t get me started on the fungi, which add an extra layer of charm and intrigue to your hikes!
Best Time to Go
The best time to visit Marlborough Forest depends on your preferences.
Winter offers serene snowy landscapes. Spring has blooming wildflowers for nature walks. Summer is great for wildlife spotting, picnics, and dog walks. Fall provides enchanting foliage for photography.
I, for one, love visiting during the winter season. The forest offers serene tranquillity that transforms it into a peaceful snowy wonderland. The crisp air and quiet beauty make it perfect for reflective walks.
But because of the cold weather, some people might not like it, so ultimately it depends on your interests and what kind of experience you’re seeking.
If this entices you to come during winter, be mindful of the possibility of severe weather conditions and prioritize safety.

Nakhon Thai is a Kemptville go-to for delicious plates from the vibrant streets of Thailand.
And of course, you best believe the pad thai rises above the rankings for its mouth-watering blend of sweet, tangy, and savory flavors.
That said, I discovered a worthy contender to their pad thai – the drunken noodles. No, it doesn’t leave you singing karaoke after dinner!
Its name comes from its spicy taste, which can make anyone, regardless of spice tolerance, reach for a drink after a bite. Nakhon Thai’s version, however, isn’t as spicy – which I’m quite thankful for!
