Safety Measures in Place at The Great Canadian Bungee

This is the part you’re most likely concerned about, so let’s talk about it – how safe is The Great Canadian Bungee?
Since day one, GCB has been leading the charge in bungee jumping safety. They helped establish the Canadian Bungee Association back in 1992 and created the safety guidelines that are still used internationally.
Needless to say, GCB is quite serious about keeping things safe while delivering thrills.
Their guidelines have shaped other bungee safety groups, like the North American Bungee Association (NABA), where GCB’s President leads the Safety Standards Board.
Industry-Leading Experience and a Highly Skilled Team

Their expertise goes beyond just bungee jumping – they’re into stunt work and equipment manufacturing too, with a history of world-record stunts and TV appearances.
So when you’re gearing up for that 200-ft. jump, you can be confident you’re in the hands of a team committed to safety and excellence from the get-go.
Comprehensive Pre-Jump Briefing and Support

During the day of the jump itself, you won’t just show up and leap off. There’s a 5-minute briefing before you even get close to the edge so that you’re well-prepared and know exactly what to expect.
The briefing covers jump instructions, retrieval procedures, and your jump options, which I find really helps to ease the nerves.
You can choose between an ankle or a body harness attachment, depending on your preference and comfort level, so you feel more in control and ready to take the plunge.
And if you still feel really scared to jump (that’s totally normal, by the way), the staff will come to the rescue with motivational pep talks, ensuring you’re encouraged and ready to take that leap with confidence.

Things to Know About The Great Canadian Bungee
Age and Weight Restrictions
Unfortunately, not everyone can bungee jump at The Great Canadian Bungee. To be able to jump without parental consent, you have to be at least 18 years old and above.
If you’re under 18, your legal guardian must be present during your jump. If they can’t be there in person, you can bring written consent from them, but they must be reachable at the time of your jump for confirmation.
Additionally, it’s important to note that those individuals who weigh between 80 lbs to 300 lbs are the only ones eligible to jump.
Clothing
You don’t need any special gear for bungee jumping or ziplining, but everyone has to wear shoes or sandals with straps – no boots or flip-flops!
There are some folks who ask if they’re allowed to jump naked, but I hate to break it to you – GCB doesn’t allow such “free-spirited” leaps.
Preparation for Your Jump
It’s best to avoid heavy meals before your jump. If you get hungry beforehand, it might be wise to stick to light meals to be consumed hours before you take the leap.
Once you’re at the venue, get ready for a briefing on jump instructions and options, and remember, the staff is there to help if you’re feeling nervous.
Weather Conditions
During rainy weather, bungee jumping will still proceed as scheduled. However, there might be delays or potential postponements if there is intense rain, lightning, or severe winds.
