The 10 Best Spots for Wood Oven Pizza in Ottawa for Authentic, Mouth-Watering Pies

It was one of those lazy afternoons where my family and I were just hanging out, tossing around ideas on what to do. No real plans, just a lot of “I dunno, what do you wanna do?”

Then, out of nowhere, someone goes, “How about pizza?” And boom—instant excitement. Why does food always win?

Phones out, everyone’s frantically Googling local spots. Suggestions flying like we’re on some pizza-fueled game show.

Turns out… wood oven pizza is a whole different level of deliciousness, and we couldn’t get enough.

That’s why I’m here to share the best wood oven pizza spots in Ottawa—because no one should have to settle when the perfect slice is just waiting to be discovered!

Must-order: Calabrese Pizza

Pizza All’Antica has been slinging Ottawa’s first Neapolitan pies from a food truck since 2012—yep, they started the whole trend. They even snagged top prizes at “La Pizza Week Ottawa” for their Margherita and the one-of-a-kind Amalfi.

But aside from that, you can’t also say no to Calabrese. It’s packed with bold flavors like spicy sopressata and roasted eggplant. Plus, it’s best paired with their homemade Bomba sauce, made with local fresh ingredients.

And for the vegans, celebrate! They’ve got a Vegan pizza that’s loaded with all the good stuff—dairy-free cheese, bell peppers, and Kalamata olives.

Pro tip:

Pair your pizza with a glass of their Folonari Valpolicella for a rich red wine that complements the rich flavors of the Calabrese.

Tennessy Willems brings the heat with their awesome selection of wood oven pizzas, made from only the freshest ingredients.

Our top pick is the Elmdale. This delight features house-made tomato sauce, Genoa salami (spicy or mild, your call), and a melty fior di latte, making it ideal for those who prefer lighter pies.

Another winner is Helen’s pizza, combining spinach, goat cheese, parmesan, and pine nuts, finished with a dash of lemon to add that extra kick.

And like Pizza All’Antica, Tennessy Willems offers gluten-free crusts and vegan cheese options, allowing you to indulge guilt-free.

If you’re in the mood for something more special, the Bria pizza is a great choice at $26, topped with mozzarella cheese, smoked salmon, and goat cheese.

To add a little extra flavor, don’t miss their dips—bomba or herb dip. Priced at $2 for a 2 oz serving, it might seem a bit steep for a small portion, but it’s a tasty way to elevate your meal.

Pro tip:

Be sure to ask your server about the cauliflower gluten-free crust—it’s a great option for those who want to enjoy a lighter, veggie-packed alternative.

Their selection of wood oven pizzas is impressive. You can grab the classics like Margherita, Pepperoni, and Greco whenever the craving strikes—day or night.

And at Johnny Farina, the crowd favorite is the Diavolo pizza. Topped with hot soppressata, spicy honey, and roasted tomatoes, it’s a spicy sensation that’ll make your taste buds really happy.

Must-order: Patane Pizza

Just a quick 10-minute drive from the Rideau Canal, you can dive into Anthony’s famous wood oven pizza selection. Seriously, they’re one of our top picks, especially their White Pizza, with the Patane stealing the show.

If you’re rolling in with a crew, definitely go for the Antipasto—it’s a feast perfect for 2 to 4 people. It combines fresh mozzarella, mild soppressata, and prosciutto crudo, all beautifully arranged.

And even though we haven’t tried it ourselves, I’ve heard these delicious slices are best enjoyed with one of Anthony’s cocktails—sangria, Italian sour, or Anthony’s Caesar.

Pro tip:

Want to switch things up? Make your traditional pizza a calzone! Just add $4 for a deliciously stuffed twist that takes your pizza game to the next level.

Must-order: Hawaiana Pizza

The Grand Pizzeria and Bar is a spot for a taste of Italy with a fun, laid-back vibe. They’ve got the biggest patio in the city with 170 outdoor seats, plus 150 inside—plenty of room to enjoy all that pizza goodness.

Their Napoletana-style pies are cooked in a blazing 900°F wood-fired oven, just like in Italy.

If you’re new to this place, I highly recommend the Hawaiana Pizza. Prosciutto cotto and pineapple? It’s that perfect sweet-savory combo.

And I get it, not everyone enjoys pineapple on their pizza, so you might want to try the Calvini instead. It has bufala mozzarella, basil, and fennel-Italian sausage.

They’ve got your dietary quirks covered too—vegan cashew cheese for the dairy-free crew and gluten-sensitive crust if wheat’s not your thing. So, no excuses—there’s a pizza for everyone here.

Pro tip:

Got a big group? The Grand Pizzeria and Bar takes reservations for parties of 10 or more, but if you’re rolling with a smaller crew, just walk in as early as possible—tables turn over fast.

Heartbreakers Pizza is here to steal your taste buds, not your heart. Every bite is a love letter to pizza perfection, cooked in a blazing wood oven that gives each pie that crispy, smoky charm you crave.

Their menu may be smaller than some, but every pizza is special. Take the Chef Pie: Nothing Gold Can Stay—a mouthwatering mix of ‘Nduja sugo, aged mozzarella, and roasted zucchini, all finished with a spicy drizzle of chili oil.

If you’re not into meat, the Veggie Supreme has you covered. It’s piled high with mushrooms, red onion, and olives. Plus, vegans can substitute regular cheese with their homemade cashew cheese on any pizza.

Pro tip:

Grab a slice (or five) of any wood oven pizza, and don’t forget to add some garlic dip or Calabrian chili for that extra kick.

Must-order: Bacon in the Sun

Crust & Crate Fast Fired Pizza Pub is definitely a slice of heaven. Since then, my friends and I have always seen ourselves getting a slice or two of their pie selections, so you can tell how good they are.

Their pizza names are quirky, too. Just like our favorite, Bacon in the Sun—it’s loaded with honey ham, smoked bacon, and fresh pineapple salsa.

Then there’s Not Your Grandpa’s Garden, ideal for veggie lovers. This pizza is piled high with broccoli, charred zucchini, and roasted peppers.

And my friend (Hi, Brent!) can’t get enough of the Honeycups—that’s 1/4 lb of cup & crisp pepperoni drizzled with hot honey.

Don’t skip dessert after your pizza feast! Treat yourself to a Skillet Brownie Explosion—a heavenly mix of brownie, ice cream, and chocolate chips.

  • Sunday: 2:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Must-order: The Canadian Pizza

It’s not House of Pizza without that glorious wood oven magic. It has been a family-run legend, hanging out in Westboro for over 30 years—it’s basically a pizza dynasty at this point.

Their pizzas will steal your heart (and maybe your plate). The Capricciosa serves up tomato sauce, cheese blend, and portobello mushrooms for those craving a classic slice with a gourmet vibe.

You should also try The Canadian with mushrooms, bacon, and double cheese (because is it even a Canadian pizza without extra cheese?).

And the best part? Their selection comes in four sizes: Small for $18, Medium for $26, Large for $33, and Extra-large for $43—ideal for everything from solo pizza cravings to feeding a hungry crowd.

Pro tip:

  • Sunday: 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Must-order: Artichokes Pizza

Bistro Ristoro is all about blending the best of Western and Eastern Mediterranean flavors—French, Greek, Italian, Macedonian, and Spanish goodness.

Their secret is a special “Green” dough that’s packed with antioxidants and baked in a brick oven using a recipe that’s been around for over 100 years.

Also, we’re not exaggerating when we say this is the best pizza in Ottawa. Take their Artichokes pizza, for example. It’s a tasty medley of milk sauce, Swiss cheese, artichokes, and roasted red peppers.

And let’s not forget the Tarte Flambe, a traditional rectangular delight from Alsace, France. This is best when shared with friends or families.

Pro tip:

Order any pizza of your choice and pair it with their Smoked Vesalica. Trust me—you’ll thank me later for this delicious combo!
