Top 5 Kanata Steakhouses Where You Can Dine Like Royalty
What comes to mind when you think of Kanata’s food scene? For me, it is the mom-and-pop shops serving delicious Indian curries or flavorful Vietnamese pho, which have always been worth the drive.
Over the years, I’ve ignored the steakhouses, convinced they couldn’t possibly stack up against the restaurants in downtown Ottawa. Turns out, I’d been missing out on some high-quality red meats and exceptional dining experiences.
For everyone else who underestimated Kanata’s steak game, here’s a little guide that will help. We’ve rounded up the best Kanata steakhouses, known for their high-quality cuts, vibrant atmosphere, and memorable meals.

Location: 601 Earl Grey Drive
Phone: +16135995000
Opening hours:
Sun-Tue, 11 AM to 11 PM
Wed-Thu, 11 AM to 12 AM
Fri-Sat, 11 AM to 1 PM
Moxies, a popular restaurant chain operating across North America, has one of the best steaks in Kanata. They use pasture-raised Angus beef and AAA steaks that are aged for at least 32 days to ensure maximum flavor and tenderness.
Whether you get the Rib Eye or New York steak, it will be served with buttered mashed potatoes and seasonal veggies—unless you prefer otherwise.
To give your steak that extra oomph, I recommend getting chili butter or blue cheese, which will cost an extra $3 to $4. It’s worth getting because they complement the rich, buttery flavor of the meats.
Pro Tip:
Make a reservation in advance because Moxies can get pretty busy, especially towards the end of the week.
2. The Keg Steakhouse and Bar

Location: 15 Huntmar Drive
Phone: +16138366282
Opening hours:
Mon-Thu, 5 PM to 9:30 PM
Fri, 4:30 PM to 10 PM
Sat, 4 PM to 10 PM
Sun, 4 PM to 8:30 PM
The Keg Steakhouse offers different steak cuts that are carefully aged for tenderness, expertly seasoned, and grilled to perfection. From Prime Rib and Filet Mignon to New York Striploin and Teriyaki Sirloin, there’s something for everyone here.
Even their sides, extras, and sauces come in an incredible variety. While you can’t go wrong with fries and steak, you shouldn’t sleep on other options like their cauliflower mash and garlic mashed potatoes.
If you like a charred crust for added texture and flavor, they can cook your steak Chicago-style. They grill the meat at 600° F, giving it a lovely sear but still cooking it to your preferred doneness.
Pro Tip:
To elevate your steak experience, upgrade your sides to grilled jumbo shrimp, lobster tail, and more.
3. Baton Rouge Grillhouse and Bar

Opening hours:
Sun-Thu, 11 AM to 10 PM
Fri-Sat, 11 AM to 11 PM
Another must-try grillhouse in Kanata is Baton Rouge, which serves incredibly flavorful and tender steaks. They have the classic cuts of Filet Mignon, Rib Eye, New York Strip, and Sirloin, but their Chimichurri Bavette is a star.
Made with Canadian AAA-grade beef, the bavette is rich and heavily marbled but less expensive than other cuts. It absorbs marinades and seasonings well, making it the perfect medium for chimichurri, a spicy and zesty sauce packed with flavor.
If you’re feeling a bit more extravagant, add a lobster tail to your plate for $25+ to turn your meal into surf and turf. All of the steaks are served with fresh, seasonal veggies and one choice of side.
Pro Tip:
Baton Rouge is a must-visit place when you want to treat yourself to a bougie meal so prepare to spend extra here. They also offer special sides like truffled-infused potatoes and parmesan truffle fries.

Fri-Sat, 12 PM to 2 AM
Dining at Crazy Horse Stonegrill in Kanata isn’t just about sinking your teeth into a delicious steak but also about the experience. It’s easily one of my favorite spots for special occasions and get-togethers.
What makes the experience so different from the rest on our list is the stone grill—a hot volcanic rock that cooks your steak right at your table. You hear the steak sizzle on the stone, locking in all those mouthwatering juices and flavors.
Crazy Horse keeps it simple with the add-ons, but they make up for it with a fantastic lineup of side dishes. Beyond the usual fries and mashed potatoes, they offer Baja, breaded onion rings, and baked beans.
Pro Tip:
Don’t forget to try one of their house-made sauces like the chimichurri, a bright, herby dip with a bit of spice, to enhance the flavor.
5. Montana’s BBQ and Bar

Opening hours:
Sun-Thu, 11 AM to 10 PM
Fri-Sat, 11 AM to 11 PM
You don’t always need to be dressed up to enjoy an incredible piece of steak. At Montana’s, you can indulge in AAA-grade Sirloin and Striploin cuts, all flame-grilled and seasoned generously, with a cold glass of beer in a casual setting.
Although I do wish each plate came with more than two pieces of crispy onion rings, I’m glad they give you two options of sides. The first is a choice between french fries, house salad, and baked potatoes, while the second is between coleslaw and baked beans.
For added flavor, you can top your steak with garlic and herb butter or glazed mushrooms and onions.
Pro Tip:
In the summer, sit by the patio so you can soak up some sun and enjoy the refreshing breeze while eating steak.
