Top Restaurants in Ottawa’s Sparks Street So Delicious, You’ll End Up in a Food Coma

I remember a time when I was in Sparks Street, hoping to shop from one of the charming boutiques.

However, it was as if my sense of smell quadrupled its usual capacity, as I suddenly had the urge to follow the irresistible aroma wafting in the air.

After hours of discovering new and tasty bites, I forgot what I initially came there for – a dilemma that I’ve wholeheartedly accepted.

With a belly full and a wallet that’s definitely not, I was able to write a comprehensive list of the best restaurants on this pedestrian street.

But let’s get one thing straight, alright? I didn’t gather this list in a single day, okay? I mean, come on, I might love food, but I don’t have the appetite for a bottomless pit! Or do I?

1. Manhattan’s Handmade Burgers

Directions: https://maps.app.goo.gl/UwR3mtNDe9KmaqCQA

Address: 240 Sparks St

Contact details: +1 613-421-0044

Operating hours:

  • Monday to Friday – 7:30 AM to 2 PM
  • Saturday and Sunday – closed

Nestled inside the C.W. Building, Manhattan’s Handmade Burgers is a hidden Sparks Street gem.

While it was too tempting to continue gatekeeping my go-to spot for a filling brunch on weekdays, it’s time to embrace the saying – sharing is caring.

Anywho, now that the cat’s out of the bag, I have a feeling you’d like their bacon mushroom melt. The meat is perfectly tender, with each bite perfectly cheesy, thanks to the Swiss cheese.

Consider getting their poutines to-go, as it’s one of the most popular menu options among regulars!

2. Brewers

  • Friday – 11 AM to 12 AM
  • Saturday – 11:30 AM to 12 AM
  • Sunday – 11:30 AM to 10 PM

You know what you need after a day of shopping at Sparks Street? Definitely drinks and some tasty bar fare on the side.

Fortunately, Brewers has got you covered!

This well-loved brewpub captured the hearts of the locals for its bustling atmosphere, gorgeous patio views, and of course, their delicious drinks and food.

It’s not surprising that their poutine is one of the most popular choices among patrons, considering it’s a Canadian classic. And of course, I had some for myself and I have to say, it’s a really tasty treat!

3. Crêperie Rim

Website: https://www.facebook.com/creperim/

Address: 89 Sparks St.

Crêperie Rim is a one-stop shop for hearty plates and decadent desserts.

Patrons can choose from an assortment of savory meals with my favorites being the toast egg sandwich and falafel wrap

The portions are just right to fill you up – nothing more, nothing less.

After a delicious meal, make sure to order from their dessert menu, boasting a variety of options. From gelato cocktails to sweet waffles, your sweet tooth is going to be spoiled at this stop.

4. Riviera Ottawa

  • Thursday to Saturday – 5 PM to 11 PM

If you’re seeking an elevated dining option along Sparks Street, you have to check out Riviera, a stylish restaurant offering innovative Canadian dishes.

Beef tartare is definitely the star of the show here and I can guarantee it’s going to be your new favorite. The meat is tender and there’s just the right balance of flavors to make everything come together.

Their cocktails are also popular, so you might want to consider ordering one for yourself.

5. D’arcy McGee’s

  • Friday – 11:30 AM to 1 AM
  • Saturday – 9 AM to 1 AM
  • Sunday – 9 AM to 11 PM

D’arcy McGee’s has been a Sparks favorite since the 90s, which means it has witnessed the rise and fall of PVC miniskirts and rugged denim jumpsuits.

Everyone knows to get the fish and chips here for its impeccable beer-battered crust, which is perfectly crispy and golden brown.

The best part? It comes with a vegetarian counterpart, making it more accessible to more foodies.

And of course, don’t forget to order a drink or two – it’s an Irish pub, after all.

6. Ottawa Bike Cafe

Operating hours:

  • Saturday – 10 AM to 7 PM
  • Sunday – 10 AM to 5 PM

Okay, maybe this one’s a cafe, but hear me out! Their sandwiches? Absolutely heavenly.

I love the grilled cheese sandwich the most for its perfectly toasted bread and gooey cheese that will have cheese lovers go crazy.

I also love their relaxed atmosphere, making it the perfect location along Sparks Street to unwind, hang out, and dive into a good book.

Bier Markt offers a homey escape from Spark Street’s buzz with its decadent meals that you’d want to keep coming back to.

The poutine and fish and chips are an absolute delight, tempting even the most adventurous foodies to indulge in them repeatedly during their visit.

I highly recommend grabbing a seat on the patio if you can, especially if you adore the timeless sport of people-watching.
