I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there are only a handful of Moroccan restaurants in Ottawa. Sad, right? It’s like finding a needle in a haystack!

I remember the first time I set out on a quest for Moroccan food – and boy, was it one of the hardest quests I’ve ever been on! 

But since I’m here talking all about it, you can rest assured that my efforts weren’t in vain. Now, prepare for a flavor explosion ahead where the spices will have you dreaming of your next bite!

1. Le Casablanca

Unbeknownst to most, ByWard Market Square is brimming with under-the-radar finds, and Le Casablanca happens to be one of them. 

This charming eatery offers a truly immersive experience with its ornate furnishings and exciting Moroccan favorites, including meat kabobs

Consider ordering the beef kefta sandwich, a certified The Best in Ottawa favorite for its juicy, flavorful meat and the perfect blend of spices. 

2. Moul Hanout

Moul Hanout is an elusive gem hiding in plain sight of Bank Street. I say elusive because they’re only open two days a week! 

If you managed to catch this modest hangout open, you’re definitely in for a treat. Good vibes, humble folks, and delicious eats – what more can you ask for? 

Try the chicken sandwich, and you might just discover your new go-to spot. 

3. Chez Fatima

While this last spot on the list is actually in Gatineau, Quebec, it’s so delicious that my editor gave it the green light! This odds-defying gem is a must-visit for Moroccan food enthusiasts in the area, no question about it.

Okay, maybe I’m exaggerating a bit, but the real reason it made our list is that it’s just a 7-minute drive from Downtown Ottawa

This slightly upscale place is renowned for its buffet setup, where you can indulge in all the Moroccan delights you crave. And before you ask – yes, it tastes authentically amazing!
