Tips to Safely Enjoy Indoor Skateparks or Bike Parks

Indoor skateparks and bike parks are fun places to have an active lifestyle. But due to the dangerous nature of skating and biking, there are safety tips that riders need to exercise.

Before you hit your local indoor park, here are some safety tips that you need to remember:

  • Always wear a helmet and pads. In case you fall, the helmet can help avoid head injury while pads can protect you from other injuries that can happen during the ride.
  • Be aware of your surroundings. You have to pay attention to other people who are also using the park and be careful not to run into others or crash into obstacles.
  • Be respectful of other people. Avoid monopolizing the equipment because you are sharing the park with others.
  • If you need help, don’t be afraid to ask. If you have not used a skateboard or bike before, or if you’re not sure how to use a particular piece of equipment, ask for help from a more experienced person.
  • Have fun! Indoor skateparks and bike parks are great places to have some fun, so relax, enjoy yourself, and be safe.

Because of Ottawa’s weather, it’s impossible to skate and bike outdoors during the winter. The Yard, an indoor skatepark and bike park, offers a great alternative that is suitable for riders of different ages to use all year round!
